Marja J. Kaisla assumes
new executive director role
at the LCPA.

The Lansdale Center for Performing Arts (LCPA) is pleased to announce the appointment of Marja Kaisla as the Executive Director of the LCPA. Born in Helsinki, Finland, Ms. Kaisla is a classically-trained pianist who has performed throughout Europe, the former Soviet Union and the U.S. Since moving to the United States in 1987, she has enjoyed an active concert performance career while being an advocate for the importance of music education.

Ms. Kaisla is the Director of the Delaware Valley Conservatory of Music, an organization that offers private lessons and group instruction in all instruments. In addition, she is the co-founder of a non-profit organization, the Philadelphia Foundation for World Music and Arts, which advocates music education and cultural tolerance among people through music and arts. Ms. Kaisla's musical endeavors - performances, as well as educational programs - regularly include fundraising at the local, state and federal levels, as well as through private donors.

Ms. Kaisla is also the owner of Delaware Valley Music, a sheet music retail store with two locations in the Philadelphia area.

"We are very fortunate to have someone of Marja's caliber as the Executive Director of the LCPA", said Diana Scott, President of the North Penn Regional Council of the Arts (the Board of Directors for the LCPA). "Her expertise, musical knowledge and business acumen make her the perfect person to lead the programming and education facility at the LCPA."

With the objective of creating a cultural and artistic educational center in Lansdale, she is currently working on developing programming at the LCPA, with the first performances scheduled to begin in late February 2009. Marja also plans to design workshops and summer programs in both the visual, as well as the performing arts, that will take advantage of the synergistic opportunities between the performance and the education spaces at the LCPA. In addition to local programming, Ms. Kaisla said, "It is my long-term goal to attract high-quality, nationally and internationally-known performers, thereby making the LCPA a nationally-recognized performing arts venue."
