‘It Figures’: Lansdale Catholic Student Artists Install Work at Lansdale Center for the Performing Arts

LANSDALE, PA – Six artistically talented students from Lansdale Catholic High School are learning about the business of art, by coordinating, installing and managing a public art exhibit at the Lansdale Center for the Performing Arts.

The exhibit, entitled ‘It Figures,’ is set for installation February 25 in the Center’s store front windows on Main Street. More than 20 portraits and full figures created by the Advanced Placement students in the school’s Studio Art class are part of the show, which will run through mid-April.

“Like real curators, the students are responsible to handle all the aspects of putting a show together,” says Jean Broden, the chairman of the school’s Fine Art department.”While the opportunity to display the work of these very talented students is exciting, the best part is seeing how excited these artists are to be involved in the entire curatorial project.”

The installation is being coordinated by the Lansdale Business Association, with members Guenter Wesch and Amy Biemiller managing the project. “We saw that the Center needed some volunteer help in managing Main Street window displays, so we offered to help,” said Wesch. “Giving these talented local students a public venue to show their capabilities and learn more about the business of art is an opportunity that seemed too good to pass up.”
